This Flight has many contrasts. From the beautiful blue waters of our beaches, to the steep escarpments of the Caldera that capture the first sunlight of each day,
This has to be the best way to see part of Australia’s Green Cauldron. View this world class hinterland by air. Fly along a series of breathtaking escarpments, mountains and valleys fanning out from the Southern Gold Coast, north and west over 150kms along the QLD/NSW state border.
We will depart the Gold Coast and climb high, to fly above Sub-tropical rainforests, spectacular plateaux, many of which make up our famous World Heritage listed areas. After following this ridge line, we will bank left to see a view of Mount Warning in front of us. Towering above the Green Cauldron at 3,793 feet, this Peak was once twice the size, but over 20million years the wind and rain carved out a huge bowl around this central Peak.
From here we will head to the town of Murwillumbah, where we will descend to 500feet and follow the meandering beautiful Tweed River to Point Danger (named by Capt James Cook, as he nearly ran into reef which was formed from the lava flow from the Mount Warning Volcano).
From here we will rush North along the magnificent beaches, watching the local surfers at the famous Snapper Rocks, home of the “Quick Silver Pro” surfing contest, Kirra Beach and up to Bilinga, before banking the aircraft left and heading back home to Coolangatta.
